Senior Yacht Crew Roles
1. Captain

Overall leader and legally responsible for the vessel, crew, and guests.

2. First Officer / Chief Mate

Assists the captain with navigation and deck operations.

Oversees the deck crew and safety drills.
3. Chief Engineer

In charge of all mechanical, electrical, and technical systems on board.

4. Chief Steward/Stewardess

Manages the interior team and guest services.

Responsible for hospitality, housekeeping, and provisioning.
Deck Department
5. Bosun (Boatswain)

Leads the deckhands and maintains the exterior of the yacht.

Manages water toys, tenders, and deck maintenance.
6. Deckhands

Support general maintenance, cleaning, docking, tender driving, and guest activities.

Entry-level role, often the starting point for aspiring officers.
Interior Department
7. Steward/Stewardess

Handles guest service, housekeeping, laundry, table settings, and interior upkeep.

On charter yachts, may also act as bartenders or spa therapists.
Engineering & Technical Support
8. Second/Third Engineer

Assists the chief engineer in maintaining all systems.

Galley Department
9. Head Chef

10. Sous Chef / Crew Cook
